Right on your doorstep, Cragside House, late home to the Armstrong family who paid the price of being rich by having to give it to The National Trust in lieu of death duties. Famous as the first house to have its own hydro-electric generator and for the over 1 million trees Lord Armstrong planted. Brinkburn and Wallington Hall are near at hand too.

Steeped in history as the Dukes of Northumberland were involved in a lot of blood letting as the buffer between England and Scotland prior to the Act of Union. However in recent years it has been most famously known for its appearance in the Harry Potter movies as Hoggwarts! There are many other castles in Northumberland some still inhabited but other just leave their haunted remains!

Alnwick gardens created by the current Duchess of Northumberland but a whole lot more tranquil than the castle. Fascinating for the whole family.

Rothbury is now home to its own golf course where you can complete 18 holes all within walking distance of the lodges. Residents of the lodge will receive a discounted rate so its worth a visit.

There are also many other golf courses within an hours drive ranging from the internationally renowned Slaley and Matfen Halls to the recently complete. You could easily play 36 different holes a day throughout your stay!
